Consultation Workshops on the Space Partnership SRIA: Key Insights and Next Steps
This week marked the conclusion of two successful consultation sessions for the Space Partnership’s Strategic Research and Innovation Agenda (SRIA). The workshops brought together stakeholders from across Europe’s space community to exchange views on priorities for digitalisation, autonomy, and competitiveness in future space systems.
Over the two sessions, 65 participants joined the discussions, representing industry, research organisations, and institutional actors. Their contributions provided valuable perspectives for shaping the detailed content of the SRIA, addressing themes such as:
-
Digital trends in satellite systems, including the role of AI and data optimisation in communications and Earth observation;
-
Software-centric architectures, enabling modularity, reliability, and faster development cycles for future missions;
-
Smart space transportation technologies, focusing on digital enablers for autonomy, design, and simulation tools.
These exchanges helped identify opportunities for greater alignment across initiatives and highlighted emerging technology areas essential for Europe’s strategic competitiveness in space.
The Space Partnership extends its sincere thanks to all speakers and contributors, including Christos Ampatzis, Klaus Buchheim, representatives from the European Commission, and all participants who shared their time and insights.
The feedback collected during these workshops will support the ongoing refinement of the SRIA and help shape the recommendations for the upcoming Horizon Europe work programme.
