Meet the Founding Associations Behind SPACE AISBL
Five leading organisations have come together to establish SPACE AISBL, an association dedicated to advancing research and development for competitive space systems across Europe. Each founding association brings its own expertise and perspective, collectively strengthening this initiative.
- Eurospace
Eurospace has long been a key advocate for the European space industry, fostering its development and addressing strategic challenges. Through its liaison with major institutions like ESA, CNES, and DLR, Eurospace ensures that the industry’s perspective is integrated into policy and programmatic discussions.
- SME4SPACE
SME4SPACE represents small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in the space sector, facilitating their participation in programs led by ESA and the EU. The organization provides a coordinated voice for SMEs, supporting their integration into the European space ecosystem and encouraging collaboration within its extensive network.
- ESRE
The Association of European Space Research Establishments (ESRE) combines the expertise of research centers from eight European countries. Through joint R&D initiatives, ESRE contributes to advancing European space science and technology while addressing societal challenges through targeted research efforts.
- EASTRO
The European Association of Space Technology Research Organisations (EASTRO) brings together 15 research and technology organizations from 11 countries. With its significant research capabilities, EASTRO focuses on areas such as satellite subsystems, quantum technologies, and the use of remote sensing data to address environmental and societal issues.
- EASN
The European Aeronautics Science Network (EASN) serves as a platform for academia engaged in aerospace research, with a focus on fostering innovation and disseminating new technologies. Its broad membership includes universities from across Europe, supporting upstream research and collaboration in the aerospace field.
A Unified Approach to European Space Innovation
These five organisations founded SPACE AISBL to unify their strengths and establish a shared approach to research and innovation in the space sector. This collaboration underpins the Global Competitive Space Systems (GCSS) co-programmed partnership with the European Commission. Together, SPACE AISBL and its founding associations work to enhance the competitiveness of the European space supply chain, fostering the development of future-ready technologies and systems.
